How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

For laser hair removal, we use the Cynosure Icon system—the same system we use for IPL photofacials and laser skin resurfacing treatments. For laser hair removal, the Cynosure Icon targets hair follicles at their root, preventing future growth. The process involves:

• Preparation: A team member cleanses your skin and gently stretches the area during treatment to ensure the laser effectively reaches the hair follicles.
• Treatment: The laser’s energy damages the hair follicle while protecting the surrounding skin.
• Multiple Sessions: Most patients require 3 to 5 sessions spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart to achieve optimal results by treating follicles in different growth phases.

We will space your treatments to allow the treated areas to heal between sessions. This interval also allows follicles in the dormant growth phase to cycle into the active growth phase so as many follicles as possible are targeted and destroyed.

What To Expect After Laser Hair Removal

Following treatment, you may experience mild redness or a sunburn-like sensation. To ensure a smooth recovery:

• Avoid strenuous activity and sun exposure for 24 hours.
• Use soothing creams or ice packs to alleviate any discomfort.
